Who gave me fever?

Yesterday I had my very first fever. I stayed inside with Mama and caught up on some of my favorite movies, like World Animals and Neighborhood Animals. Today I felt much better...the only thing that was burning hot was the park! After which I enjoyed a much better "first" -- a freezy pop!

Here I am this morning re-enacting how pitiful I looked yesterday when I had my first fever.

Here I am catching up on some reading before heading out to park.

And here I am enjoying the aforementioned first freezy pop.

Sniff and snack

With temperatures in the low 70s for the first time in weeks, Mama and I decided to seize the day and take a trip to the Chicago Botanic Gardens...or as I've renamed it, "Botanic Snacking Gardens." After one gigantic tantrum and a few minutes of whining outside the entrance, we had a splendid walk through the greenery, accented with a variety of snacks. Nothing says "summer" like flowers and a Snack Trap full of Pirate's Booty!

Lessons from a new friend

Yesterday a new friend came over to hang out at my house for a BBQ. Finally, a chance to interact with another kid without the constant interruption of music, puppets, clowns and organized activities. (The classes I go to are certainly enriching, but leave little time for small talk with the peeps.) With a couple hours to hang out with another kid approximately my size, I learned:

...that my shoe collection leaves a bit to be desired. Do they make these in my size??

...that little boys don't appreciate a nice petting as much as Xana does. (Look, kid, Mama told me to "make nice." What were you expecting? A handshake?)

...that patio steps are where the cool kids hang out.

And I taught my new friend that baby wipes are not just for cleaning up anymore. They're perfect for outdoor entertaiment...

...flossing...

...and accessorizing!

I got the memo...

...that reads, "You're no longer in charge here."

And it came in the form of the Naughty Pillow.

Seems that gone are the days of doing whatever I please and smiling when Mama and Dada emphatically say things like "no!" and "naughty!" and "garlic powder is not a toy!" Now my defiance gets me a do-not-pass-go, do-not-collect-$200 ticket to the Naughty Pillow. Right there in the corner by the front door. There I have to sit for 60 seconds (which is like 45 minutes in baby time), during which I focus my energy on screaming, crying and trying to escape.

Naughty Pillow, I know we just met, but I don't like the looks of you.

Saturday with Dada

This past weekend while Mama was out for a "girls' day," Dada and I went on a playdate of our own to TOYS R' US! Everything I touched was mine!

Like this Little People castle...prince included! (It said so on the box)....

and this pink Little People school bus...(Hey kid, scoot over. This buffalo needs in)...

and every Little People man, woman, child and animal...

and this Elmo chair that spins around and says things to me...

and this GIGANTIC Elmo!

I took Elmo for a walk around his new 'hood, at which point it became abundantly clear that we needed to return to Toys R' Us...Elmo needs a bigger stroller. Oh Daaaaadaaaaaa....
