Best seat in the house
I informed Rowan the other day that if we are to be best friends, she must start showing an interest in the things I enjoy. After all, I cannot mold her to my likeness if all she does is sit around all day with her hand in her mouth. A quick study, Rowan immediately expressed a fondness for Elmo. Well played, my tiny friend. Well played.

Making the call
When you're a baby, it seems you're defined by your milestone achievements -- at what age you crawl, at what age you walk, at what age you talk. I didn't crawl early, I definitely didn't walk early and I absolutely didn't talk early...but one thing I left my peers in the dust on was using the phone. From a very young age, I expressed an interest in and keen ability for telephone conversations. And while I hope that Rowan is reciting Shakespeare when other kids are trying to say "dog," I plan to give her a leg up in the phone department...starting now.
Due to Rowan's size, I've selected a cloth starter phone.

But as you can see, she's also very adept at using plastic phones.

First things first
Today was a day full of many firsts:
I played my first game of tag with a neighborhood pal.
Rowan ate her first bowl of cereal. (I eat cereal every morning, but no one's all "where's the video camera?!" when I'm doing it...I'm just saying...)
I played the harmonica for the first time.
And I took the first real spill of my infant/toddler career (off the stool in my bathroom), resulting in a call to the doctor (just so my parents could hang onto the title of "nervous nellies" for at least a little while longer). The doctor prescribed a low dose of ice, but I declined medical intervention. After all, it was bedtime and I had a crib full of my friends waiting for me. Life's too short to prevent swelling.

Enjoy the musical stylings of Ga Ga. Now if only there was someone to back me up on my Tinkerbell guitar.
Since no one bothered to capture my first experience eating cereal, I decided to exact revenge by yelling through most of Rowan's video. And, sorry, I don't know how to play the movie without that annoying commentary by the directors.
