Finger-licking good

In celebration of Friday and one of my favorite pieces of classic literature ("Pinkalicious"), Mommy, Rowan and I hit Deerfield's Bakery yesterday for a cupcake date! (Rowan slept through our visit to the cupcake counter, and hence she got a big, fat frosted piece of nothing!) You may recall that much earlier in my youth (August 2008), I was a little nervous to mar my appearance with messy delicacies. Alas, no more! I demonstrated that cupcake eating is a contact sport and (because I am my mother's child) that you should always consume the frosting first...just in case you run out of room.

Another blast from the past

I am an arteest

In the hopes of being the youngest student accepted at my Ya Ya's school for artists, I have been quietly and steadfastly perfecting my craft. Preferred mediums: pen, crayon and Post-It notes.

While Mommy sat at the kitchen counter this morning making somewhere around 80 calls to my gymnastics school to get me enrolled in a new class (yep, it's that hard to sign up), I created a stunning 32-piece installment. And just to make mom feel like her time was well spent, I took a moment to display my flexibility.

Exersaucer!

On Sunday, Rowan experienced for the first time the joy and entertainment that is the Exersaucer...an old favorite of mine. She seemed to enjoy keeling over on top of the assorted rattles, teething rings and musical accessories.

Virtu-o-so fabulous!

It was bound to happen. After watching more than 20 episodes of Little Einsteins and all that talk about crescendos and accelerandos and fortes, it seems that every instrument I pick up I already know how to play. Freaky!! The recorder in my bathtub -- check! The xylophone in my playroom -- check! The drum in my bedroom -- check! And yesterday I showed Aunt Jamie a thing or two about how to play guitar.

I am available for birthdays and bar mitzvahs, as long as I can be in bed by 7 pm. Pass it on.

"Aunt Jamie, if you're not going to focus, we might as well both go home."

Driving with a clutch

When catching a few z's in the car, I recommend clutching your most prized possessions -- in this case, Mickey Mouse and a bag of Cheerios -- so that upon waking, you can immediately re-engage in your important business.

Stop! It's Tummy Time!

This week my sister went to the doctor for her two month check-up. Thankfully mom left me at home for that one...I've been to that office for enough visits to know that no good ever comes of it. They usually end with a shot or two, after which a nurse tries to buy my silence with a lousy sticker.

I let Rowan know the score before she left, so she was sure to do a lot of screaming on the exam table. Regardless, the doctor gave her a good report and orders to start with daily tummy-time sessions. Yesterday during her very first tummy time she pushed up on her arms as if to declare that this exercise was far too easy. She's wondering what else we've got for her to try arond here...and I'm thinking, my toys don't put themselves away. Why don't you work on that?

She's got the look

When it comes to trying new things, Rowan's facial expressions are ripped right from pages of the Book of Jillie.
