My dad knows a lot about pools. Superbowl pools. Survivor pools. Confidence pools. Office pools. But never before had we discussed the coolest pool of all...the swimming pool! And it turns out, he knows all about those, too!
'Round about the time I started to regularly declare, "Look, Jillian's swimming in the tubbie," during my baths, mom and dad figured it was time to get me over to the pool. The last time I was in one, I looked sort of like this:
April 2008
So, uh, it's been
a while.
Turns out Nannie's been holding out on me...she's got a swimming pool
in her backyard. So to prepare for my first swim of the year (and my first swim since I've been old enough to offer my consent), we went to the store to get a swim jacket. And while we were there, I convinced my dad that we needed a surf board to go with it. (I learned everything I need to know about surfing from the Backyardigan's
Surf's Up episode. A classic.) I swiped his goggles right after naptime and we were ready to hit the waves...or the gentle lap...or what have you.

Now when it comes to me and recreational activities, it's anybody's guess what I might do. For instance, pony rides: not okay. Carnival rides that fly into the air: okay. Carousels: not okay. Being swung around by one arm and one leg: okay. So everyone held their breath as Daddy took me into the pool. And the verdict? I think the pictures speak for themselves...
