Excuse No. 2: No WiFi

I was airborne A LOT. I rode on an airplane to my Grandma and Popi's in Colorado, and while I was there, I found myself getting even more air time. Opportunities to engage in blogging while partaking in these activities: sparse.

While I have photographic evidence to document my flight in the The Grand's pool, you'll have to take my word (and the word of approx. 100 disgruntled passengers) that I definitely rode on two airplanes.

What I did on my summer vacation

My apologies for being MIA in the month of August, but I have good excuses, many of which will be covered on my blog over the next week or so.

Excuse No. 1: I began my career in independent films. With the addition of a Mac to my house, you can bet that my IMDB profile will be overflowing in no time. And based on the box office returns, it is likely that my dad and I will costar in another film soon. My only concern is whether or not my mom and dad are investing the returns responsibly...or blowing it on frivolous items...like Macs.

Dirty joke

My mom, bless her heart, is always trying to keep us clean and germ-free. When she breaks out the organic hand sanitizer in the tiny spray bottle, my reflexes kick in and my hands shoot straight out, palms up, ready to be misted.

Last weekend, in an act I can only imagine was retaliation for all those times she's been misted against her will (especially that one time Mom woke Rowan up by misting her feet mid-nap...don't even ask about that one), Rowan gave the local park swing a good lick.

The very hungry Rowan

Some people say they can devour a good book, but Rowan really means it. And the fact that it's The Very Hungry Caterpillar just seems ironic.

Count me in

My dad knows a lot about pools. Superbowl pools. Survivor pools. Confidence pools. Office pools. But never before had we discussed the coolest pool of all...the swimming pool! And it turns out, he knows all about those, too!
'Round about the time I started to regularly declare, "Look, Jillian's swimming in the tubbie," during my baths, mom and dad figured it was time to get me over to the pool. The last time I was in one, I looked sort of like this:

April 2008

So, uh, it's been a while.

Turns out Nannie's been holding out on me...she's got a swimming pool in her backyard. So to prepare for my first swim of the year (and my first swim since I've been old enough to offer my consent), we went to the store to get a swim jacket. And while we were there, I convinced my dad that we needed a surf board to go with it. (I learned everything I need to know about surfing from the Backyardigan's Surf's Up episode. A classic.) I swiped his goggles right after naptime and we were ready to hit the waves...or the gentle lap...or what have you.

Now when it comes to me and recreational activities, it's anybody's guess what I might do. For instance, pony rides: not okay. Carnival rides that fly into the air: okay. Carousels: not okay. Being swung around by one arm and one leg: okay. So everyone held their breath as Daddy took me into the pool. And the verdict? I think the pictures speak for themselves...
