Hello, baby

A few months ago I was notified that due to my outstanding performance as a baby, I was up for promotion to big sister. Naturally, I was elated to have my outstanding skills recognized, but a bit nervous for my new responsibilities to come. So lately I've been studying up on tiny babies and have discovered that they're not all that complicated...they sleep a lot, cry a lot and hardly know any good tricks at all.

To show my mom and dad that I am up for the task of helping out come December, I talked my dad into taking me out to get a baby of my own. Apparently mom doesn't know that they're available at Target for $24.99. She seems to have custom ordered my sister from the factory, and they've got a reeeeeeaaaally long production time.

While I wait, I'm getting myself a little field experience.

Playdate at the museum

Yesterday my mom took me back to the children's museum for a playdate with an old friend, whom I have known for months and months. During our visit, I...

...nervously kept my eye on the odometer to be sure my pal was driving within the limits of the law.

...realized that some kids are a little more enthusiastic than others about getting air blown on them in the human car wash.

...looked for baby doll bottoms in need of a good powdering in the baby nursery.

...pushed some buttons to be sure the exhibits were in proper working order. (Jellyfish exhibit...check!)

...wondered where my captain's hat was.

...delighted in the fact that plastic oranges appear to be in season year round.

Label me dismayed

Not two weeks ago I was blogging about my aspirations of being mistaken for a Hollywood fashionista and all of the sudden it looks like the Hollywood fashionistas are raiding my wardrobe! While I was certainly dismayed to see Suri Cruise sporting this green dress (particularly since my mom assured me it was a one-of-a-kind), I did want to note for the record that I was photographed in it first. All I have to say is that should Suri and I find ourselves on the "Who Wore it Best?" pages of US Weekly, the voting public should bear in mind that someone dribbled food down the front of her dress...although I'm too much of a lady to say who...Suri...Cruise.

Step into my office

From the time I wake in the morning til the time I get in bed at night, I'm a busy baby. There's constantly something to be done. Like reading my books, flipping through magazines or organizing my Little People. With so much to do, you can only imagine the challenges I faced in crossing everything off my to-do list without my own personal workspace. So this weekend I took Mama and Dada shopping in the name of productivity and came home with a lovely new playtable. Imagine what a relief it will be for my Little People to enjoy the revolving castle dance floor without fear of being trampled by a sheepdog of ungodly proportions.

We of course had to document the new addition to our house on my blog, so Mama took out a camera and told me to go play at my table. But I've been doing this baby business long enough to understand that when the camera comes out, I've gotta work it. So I walked over to the table, turned around and smiled. And that's when Mama knew she had corrupted my tiny soul.

How's this mom? So natural it looks candid, no?

Taking my cues from Hollywood

Since a very young age, I have made it a point to keep up with the latest fashion trends by dedicating my free time to reading esteemed publications like People and US Weekly.

Summer 2007

While I'm happy that the only paparrazzi stalking me is my mom (so as to avoid having my unshining moments published for the world to see...like 20 minutes ago when I tried to eat a styrofoam tray in the car), I do secretly hope to be mistaken for one Hollywood fashionista or another. Which is why I picked up these yesterday...

Playgroup!

Every month since I was two months old, I've gotten together with my pals for playdate. At first it was a little boring -- we'd all just lay around and look at each other. Now it's a lot more eventful -- we fight over toys, throw stuff at one another and grab each other's hair. Ahh, it's good to be back with the boys!

Nothing a little baked goods can't fix

After a week filled with fevers and headaches (related to a certain unending home improvement project), Mama and I figured it best to celebrate the end of a bad week with something good...baked goods! So we hightailed it over to Deerfield's Bakery for cupcakes, which I had never had. Devil's foodcake with a buttercream frosting and caramel drizzle. After much poking and prodding of the cupcake and just a few small nibbles, I determined that cupcake eating was far too much of a contact sport for me. I know some girls don't mind getting a little dirt (or buttercream) under their fingernails, but it turns out I'm not one of them! I found tea cookies much easier to eat like a lady!
