Movin' on out (and the 4-month check-in)

Last week Remy turned 4-months-old, and in celebration of her big day, Mom served her with an eviction notice.

As was the deal with all of us who've enjoyed newborn status in this household, the 4-month lease we were granted at birth on  prime real estate in Mom and Dad's room ran out and she was not provided the option to renew.  And so she packed her diaper bags and headed north...down the hall...to her own bedroom.

She seems to be taking to her new place quite well, however, sleeping through the night with (usually) minimal summons to my mom to come in and tend to an escaped pacifier.

Life is good.

And with that, I present you with a few choice photos of Remers at 4 months, in which we...

...propped her up once again for the monthly photo shoot.

...did a little more begging for the privilege to hold her on the couch.  Which she very clearly enjoys.

...marveled at her ability to display such a broad range of emotions within the scope of one single minute. Move over, Rowan.  Looks like we got ourselves another one who's all about the drama.

Doin' the do and rollin' with it

Last week, Mary "pulled together" all of Remy's resources to create her very first up do.

Stylish.

For those of you who feel too distracted by the rolls in Remy's arms to give her hair its proper due, I'd like to point out two things.

One -- Remy went down three whole percentile points in weight at her 4-month check up this week.  And is now taller than 50 percent of babies, rather than only 25 percent of them.  So that basically means she's stretching out, right?

And, two, these rolls?  She comes by them honestly.

I'm still Jillie from the Block

With our recent attendance at our fifth annual block party, it seems that yet another party-in-the-streets retrospective is in order.

Keeping it cool

With summer in full swing, Rowan and I are attempting to log as many hours in the water as humanly possibly.  Our quest is greatly aided by the fact that we started at a new summer camp this year that indulges us in twice-daily plunges in the pool. We supplement on our days off of camp with trips to Nannie's pool.

To prepare for our summer-o-swimming, we stocked up on swimsuits to avoid the nightmare (for my mom) of doing laundry nightly.  But, as is often the case with Rowan these days, she's become rather attached to one swimsuit in particular, passing daily on the second (dry) swimsuit waiting in her backpack in favor of having the wet one from morning swim wrangled back on.

We can only assume her counselors are thrilled.

And although she's opting for a more casual look these days, it should be noted for the record that Rowan attended the first two full weeks of camp in her favorite blue tiara.  And while camp warned us not to bring any treasured belongings with us, as things have a propensity for getting lost amidst the shuffle between activities, Rowan managed to climb back in the car every day with that tiara still on her head.

Way to keep it classy, Rowan.

And with that, here're a few choice photos from the start of Summer 2012!
